Position Overview

We are looking for a dynamic and engaging Community Outreach Specialist to be the bridge between Dilulu and the communities we serve. This role involves building relationships, promoting our programs, recruiting participants and volunteers, and gathering feedback to ensure our initiatives are relevant and impactful.

The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, relationship-builder, and advocate for sustainable practices, with a deep understanding of community dynamics in Gabon.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement community outreach strategies to promote Dilulu's programs (gardening, composting, e-learning, workshops, etc.).
  • Identify and build relationships with community leaders, local organizations, schools, and potential partners.
  • Organize and conduct community meetings, presentations, and information sessions about Dilulu's initiatives.
  • Recruit participants for workshops, volunteer opportunities, and other programs.
  • Develop and distribute outreach materials (brochures, flyers, social media content) in collaboration with the communications team.
  • Gather feedback from community members to inform program design and improvement.
  • Assist in organizing community events, workshops, and garden workdays.
  • Document outreach activities, community interactions, and success stories.
  • Represent Dilulu at community events and forums.
  • Collaborate with program coordinators to ensure outreach efforts align with program goals.
  • Contribute to building a strong network of supporters and advocates for Dilulu.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Community Development, Social Work, Marketing, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in community outreach, public relations, volunteer coordination, or a similar role, preferably within the non-profit sector.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse community groups.
  • Excellent public speaking, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong writing skills for creating outreach materials.
  • Experience organizing events and community meetings.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms for outreach purposes.
  • Knowledge of or strong interest in sustainable living, gardening, and environmental issues.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, for community events.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Fluency in French and English (both written and spoken) is required. Knowledge of local languages is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within assigned regions.
  • Energetic, outgoing personality with a passion for community engagement.
