Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Program Coordinator to lead the development, implementation, and expansion of our School Gardens program. This role is crucial in fostering environmental stewardship and nutritional awareness among students and educators in Gabon and potentially other regions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education, project management, and sustainable agriculture or horticulture, combined with excellent communication and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of school garden projects in partner schools.
- Develop and adapt educational curriculum related to gardening, nutrition, composting, and environmental science for different age groups.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with school administrators, teachers, students, parents, and community stakeholders.
- Provide training and ongoing support to teachers and school staff involved in the garden programs.
- Coordinate volunteer activities related to school gardens.
- Manage program budgets, resources, and reporting requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate program impact, collecting data and success stories.
- Contribute to grant writing and fundraising efforts related to the school gardens program.
- Stay updated on best practices in school gardening, environmental education, and sustainable agriculture.
- Represent Dilulu at relevant meetings, workshops, and conferences.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Environmental Science, Agriculture, Horticulture, Community Development, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in program coordination, project management, or educational program delivery, preferably in a non-profit or educational setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of sustainable gardening practices, composting, and basic ecological principles.
- Experience working with schools, teachers, and children/youth.
- Strong curriculum development and training facilitation skills.
- Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
- Fluency in French and English (both written and spoken) is required.
- Willingness and ability to travel within Gabon to visit school sites.
- Passion for environmental education and sustainable development.
