What Educators Say

Hear from teachers and administrators about their experiences with our school visit programs.

Aminata's visit to our school transformed our students' understanding of traditional agriculture. Her ability to connect ancient farming practices with modern sustainability challenges captivated our students and inspired many to start their own container gardens at home. The hands-on activities were perfectly tailored to our 5th graders, and the curriculum connections were seamless.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our school visit programs.

How do I book a school visit program?

To book a school visit, contact us through our website or email schools@dilulu.org with details about your school, preferred program, desired dates, grade level(s), and approximate number of students. Our education team will respond within 48 hours to discuss your needs and provide a customized proposal.

What is the typical group size for school visits?

Our school visit programs are designed to accommodate a wide range of group sizes. For interactive workshops and hands-on activities, we recommend groups of 20-30 students per facilitator. For presentations and assemblies, we can accommodate larger groups. For very large schools, we can provide multiple facilitators or schedule visits over several days to ensure quality engagement with all students.

Do you offer virtual school visits?

Yes, we offer virtual school visits for many of our programs. While in-person visits provide the richest experience, our virtual programs include interactive elements, pre-visit material kits, and follow-up resources to create engaging learning experiences. Virtual visits are particularly suitable for schools in remote locations or those with limited budgets for guest speakers.

What languages are school visits available in?

Our school visit programs are available in English and French, with some facilitators also able to present in local languages including Wolof, Lingala, and Swahili. Please specify your language requirements when inquiring about a visit, and we'll match you with an appropriate facilitator.

Do you provide materials and resources for teachers?

Yes, all school visit programs include comprehensive teacher resources, including pre-visit and post-visit activities, curriculum connections, and extension ideas. For hands-on programs, we provide a detailed list of required materials in advance. Depending on the program and agreement, we may provide certain specialized materials, while asking the school to supply basic items. All teachers receive digital access to resources through our online learning platform after the visit.

What are your fees and payment policies?

School visit fees vary based on program duration, content, group size, and location. We provide detailed quotes after discussing your specific needs. For public schools and under-resourced institutions, we offer sliding scale rates and can sometimes provide partial or full scholarships through our donor-supported education fund. Standard payment terms include a 50% deposit to secure the booking, with the balance due one week before the visit date. For schools with specific procurement processes, we're happy to work within your requirements.
