Garden Educator Volunteer
As a Garden Educator volunteer with Dilulu, you'll play a vital role in our mission to empower communities through sustainable gardening and natural living practices. You'll work directly with schools, community groups, and individuals to share knowledge, build skills, and inspire a deeper connection to food systems and the environment.
Our Garden Educators are passionate about sustainable agriculture and have a talent for making complex concepts accessible to diverse audiences. Whether you're teaching children about seed germination, demonstrating composting techniques to community members, or guiding teachers in curriculum integration, you'll be helping to cultivate both gardens and gardeners.
Responsibilities

Facilitate garden-based workshops and educational sessions for various audiences, including children, teachers, and community members

Demonstrate sustainable gardening techniques such as composting, companion planting, natural pest management, and water conservation

Support the establishment and maintenance of school and community gardens

Assist in developing and adapting educational materials to suit local contexts and needs

Collaborate with local teachers to integrate garden-based learning into school curricula

Document activities and collect feedback to help improve our educational programs

Participate in community events and outreach activities to promote sustainable gardening
Requirements

Practical experience in gardening, agriculture, or horticulture (formal qualifications are beneficial but not required)

Strong communication and teaching skills, with the ability to adapt content for different audiences

Cultural sensitivity and respect for local knowledge and practices

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions

Proficiency in English; knowledge of French or local languages is highly valued
