Community Garden Assistant Volunteer
As a Community Garden Assistant volunteer with Dilulu, you'll work directly with local communities to establish, maintain, and enhance sustainable community gardens. These gardens serve as vital hubs for food production, education, and community building across Africa.
Our Community Garden Assistants are hands-on contributors who combine practical gardening skills with community engagement abilities. You'll support garden coordinators and community members in implementing sustainable practices, troubleshooting challenges, and celebrating successes that strengthen local food systems and community resilience.
Responsibilities

Assist with garden planning, soil preparation, planting, maintenance, and harvesting activities

Support the implementation of sustainable gardening techniques such as composting, water conservation, and natural pest management

Help organize and facilitate community workdays and garden-related events

Assist with record-keeping, including planting schedules, harvest data, and community participation

Support community members in developing their gardening skills and knowledge

Help maintain garden infrastructure, tools, and equipment

Contribute to problem-solving around garden challenges and community dynamics

Assist with distributing harvests according to community agreements
Requirements

Basic gardening experience and willingness to learn more
